ITU-T SG20 - Internet of things (IoT) and smart cities and communities (SC&C)在去年(2020)的12月16日召開全體會員會議，因受疫情影響，會議改以線上形式舉辦，且縮短為1天。會議共有60位各國專家及官方代表與會，人數最多的是中國(17)，其次為日本(6)及馬來西亞(6)。本次會議共討論18篇文件以及產出2篇對外部組織的聯絡文件(Outgoing Liaison Statement)。

本次會議也通過兩份國際標準(ITU-T的專用語稱為recommendation)，分別與無人機的應用及智慧醫療相關。
1. TU-T Y.4559 - Requirements and functional architecture of base station inspection services using unmanned aerial vehicles
2. ITU-T Y.4908 - Performance evaluation frameworks of e-health systems in the IoT

比較有爭議性的是一份與自駕車應用相關的標準草案 (ITU-T Y.4471 - Functional architecture of network-based driving assistance for autonomous vehicles)。關於這份由中國提出的草案，美國與加拿大都表示ITU-T SG16也正在進行相關的標準制定。此外，比起SG20，ITU-T的一個Focus Group(FG) - AI for Autonomous and Assisted Driving有更多的汽車業者參與，因此建議延遲至下次會議(2021年五月)再決定是否通過此份標準，同時將此份標準草案送至SG16及FG AI for Autonomous and Assisted Driving，請這兩位小組的專家給予意見。以避免重複的標準造成產業界未來採用的困難。
